We would like to thank the Dog Community for 15 years of dedication to our facility.
Due to the job opportunity of a lifetime, working with the Military Working Dogs at Lackland Air force Base, Diamond Dream Dog Center will close its doors as of Memorial Day Weekend.
We offer an extended thank you to the dog community:
- Area vet clinics for always referring us to their clients
- The Animal Welfare Society, with special thanks Steve Jacobsen for allowing me to build a dog training program in 5 years that would be my foundation for Diamond Dream Dog Center. You hired me even though a “dog trainer” program did not exist. To all of the shelter dogs – you gave me an education that money can’t buy.
- Tom & Barbara Potter and the memory of Sam and the farm – for allowing me to run a “little business” on the side as a single mom – to collect a few extra dollars (at $7 per night) – who would have thought?
- My Staff: I could not have done it without you all. May your future employers know that you’ll work hard and give 110% every day. Thank you for years of dedication and commitment to Diamond Dream Dog Center and the dogs that were our guests.
- Nancy Richeson and RiverRidge for the Animal Assisted Therapy Program – what an amazing experience, changing the lives of both the residents and the dog & handler teams.
- Pet owners – I’ve loved you and your dogs! It’s been wonderful sharing stories, growing with you and your families, and living my life vicariously through your vacations! Thank you for entrusting me with your four-legged friends!
I would like to extend my personal thanks to:
- E.W. Carpentry (Eric Wuerthner) for your skills, craftsmanship and patience as you “built” Diamond Dream Dog Center in Alfred for me. No question, your are the best carpenter in the world!
- My friends – for supporting my lifestyle with dogs and creating “coffee with friends”.
- My children – for sharing “mom” with dogs even when you didn’t want to. It wasn’t easy, but it was our lifestyle.
- My parents – Mom, for putting up with all the stray animals I brought home as a kid & allowing me walk the neighborhood dogs at 8 years old, because I couldn’t have one. Dad, for telling me “when you grow up, you can have as many damn dogs as you want”.
Thanks for giving me something to work for. I couldn’t wait to grow up!
All for the love of dogs,
Tracy Shaw, Diamond Dream Dog Center |
